Hello, my name is Marin Matsuzaki. I appear in Japanese fashion magazines such as JELLY and #N. I also work as shop assistant of an apparel brand, which has a shop in the Shibuya109 department store. I will show you how to do a makeup style that is really in fashion in Japan right now. It’s the method of the brand that I work for, so feel fee to try it out! The reasons why I chose these colored contact lenses, is because the size matches my own eyes. They have a vibrant color which doesn’t look too strong, which makes them look more natural. About my makeup base: I considered using BB cream and adding foundation on top, but it can damage your skin a lot. Instead I tried to get a beautiful complexion by just using BB cream. Rather than using a matte foundation it has been a recent trend to use products that create a healthy shine. Therefore, instead of layering up the powder, I just dab on a little bit to keep the healthy shine. This is a white eye-shadow with a bit of glitter. I spead it on the whole upper lid, to create a glossy shine. I especially focus here on applying it on the inner corners of my eyes. In the shape of an almond, I create a glossy finish. If you don’t have this product, you can use any white, glossy product that you might have at home. Our focus is on glossy make up. This brown shade is rather glossy than sparkly. If you want it glossy then use this one. I use a mascara that gives me length instead of volume. The mascara I use can be layered up for even longer looking lashes. You can stop at your favorite length. If not, you won’t be able to stop. After applying the fake lashes, lift them up like this, so they face upwards. That’s a really vital part. The lashes I use, I actually cut beforehand. Best practice here is to apply them about 5mm away from the inner corner of your eyes. It shouldn’t be obvious that you are wearing fake lashes. It should look natural. But they should still shine through and look longer on the outer corners. Cut them well, move them 5mm away from your inner corners and stick them on. This technique is used at my apparel brand shop. Create a wing, similar to a cat eye, I draw it quite high up. Just make sure it doesn’t look imbalanced. Then add a shadow on the bottom lid to connect the parts. If you add a black eyeliner pencil, it will look really stong. You don’t need that look this time, therefore I just shade it in with black eyeshadow. I also draw on the inner corners of my eye but instead of using a liquid eyeliner, I use an eyeliner pencil, for a softer appearance. Rather than drawing a line, I shade the area. I recommend creating a softer look. The eyebrows are the special trademark of this look. The are quite thick. Rather than raising them up we want to create a gentle look. Here it’s important to not use an eyebrow pencil and just use powders for the shape. First draw them on really thickly, then gently blend them into your foundation. Don’t add a harsh nose shadow either. Follow the natural shape of your eyebrows, as if you want to connect the areas. Use the same brush to shade in the area up to the middle of your nose. My personal hint is to add a little bit of shadow under your nose. That way it will look a little more spikey. You add the blush on the apple of your cheeks. If you stretch it too far back, it will make your face look really wide. Add it under your eyes, until about here. Like this. I chose a glossy color. If you look at it like this it looks quite brown. Once you add it, it will give you an orange glow. It’s a really nice colour, try it out. For my lips I am using a color called Saigon Summer. Bright orange colous are really in fashion right now, but you can also choose a color that suits your face. Well, I choose Saigon Summer. When applying, instead of using a brush to color your lips perfectly, simply apply it in three simple strokes. Of course it is not good to apply too much. But in order to create the trend lips that are in style right now, use a bit more on the upper lips. Give it a try. The trademarks of makeup styles are generally: Eyebrows, eyes and lips. That’s a given. In this case it’s thick eyebrows, an upwards drawn wing and a trendy lip color. Be sure to stick to these points. Hair color wise, gradual shading seems to become a standard these days. I chose to have a lighter gray tone, and a darker at the roots, to make it appear more natural. It’s like a natural looking graduation. The fringe stands up for a simple, casual and natural look. Like this. When styling it, it should look slightly wet. Instead of using a gel that hardens, use a gel for a wet look. in order for it to look glossy. My coordinate are the gaucho pants that are in fashion this spring in Japan, and a long denim shirt. That’s the recent fashion standard. The shoes are quite eccentric. They really match my style. I generally style myself like this, I like doing all kinds of makeup styles however, and hopefully I can show you those some time. Take this as a reference. Bye, bye. To create larger eyes… Overlap them for about 5cm. Make your eyes bigger and bigger. Add plenty here. This defines the Gal look. Still Gal underneath! Self introduction? – Can I use the same as last time? – That’s totally ok. Hello my name is Marin Matsuzaki – Sorry! – No problem! It’s the method of the brand that I work for, so feel fee to try it out! Is this going to be ok? I think it’s perfect. If you don’t use this, the foundation – THAT’S A LIE! If you don’t use this… You were really cute when you said, “That’s a lie”. – What did I say again? – You said “foundation” by accident. Please edit this well. You get a really great color result. I can really recommend it. PLEASE USE IT! Like this? It’s really glossy, so use it if you like it glossy. Is that going to be ok? Anyways, use this. Shift it 5mm to the side and add it PLEASE. You get a weird result. To get rid of it use the black shadow and quieten it down. Quieten it down? Shade? Shade it? Where shall I start? You add it to the inner corners of your eyes. But not with a pencil liner. Pencil? One more time. I use Saigon Summer. So ….. what?! Nevermind.
